During 2005/6 we held various events including our Curry night, Car boot sale, sale of books and our 40s street party all in aid of the Nicosia Hospital's Children's cancer ward. As a result of all these fund raising events and other donations we managed to raise £2000. After speaking with the hospital consultant and staff it emerged that the children in the ward spend long (and boring) hours attached to drips while receiving their chemotherapy treatment and that a certain amount of pain and discomfort is attached to this. So in an effort to cheer them up and take their minds off their treatment it was decided to spend this money in providing the ward with the equipment listed below for the use of the children and their parents who also spend long hours and days at the hospital. Morale has already been increased with the presentation last week of the industrial toaster which means that light snacks and toasties can be made when the kids feel like eating during their treatments. So on Tuesday 19th July 2006 representatives of  our club went along to the hospital and presented the equipment to consultant Dr Loizou  He thanked the group most sincerely on behalf of the Hospital staff and patients for our donation. It is our hope that these items will make life a little easier for these very brave children. UPDATE >> Using cash collected in 2006 we further donated a dishwasher to the ward and will shortly use the remaining money in the fund to supply  even more equipment to the hospital.

Children's ward..
Our little Lucy. Lucy is grand-daughter of one of our members and is just finishing her last
